Aonami Pasta, a Japanese-style Italian restaurant nestled in a Hsinchu alleyway community, derives its name from the chef's pure and simple aspirations. The aim is to immediately evoke an association with Japanese culture and inspire a unique design concept. The brainstorming process led to a theme that dives from the fresh waves into the depths of the ocean, where deep and dark seabeds house cabins and exquisite creatures. The design departs from traditional ocean-themed spatial designs, interpreting burnt cedar, galvanized steel panels, and copper materials to create a truly unique and intriguing aesthetic that is bound to captivate.
Aonami Pasta isn't your typical restaurant. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, it aspires to be a focal point, drawing inspiration from both Japan and the surrounding area. The exterior, clad in rough-hewn, burnt cedar, reflects the chef's dedication to fresh, natural ingredients. Three circular windows peek playfully through the facade, resembling portholes on a submarine – a nod to the chef's desire to connect with the outdoors while crafting culinary masterpieces.
Step outside and you'll be greeted by a landscape inspired by Japanese gardens. Lush greenery, trees, and stones create a serene atmosphere, perfectly complemented by the modern touch of galvanized steel panels. The fragmented metal patterns evoke sea spray, adding a touch of lightness and a distinctly Japanese ambiance.
The artistic copper entrance sign, with its turquoise rust effect, subtly hints at the restaurant's theme – a fusion of land and sea. This theme continues inside with the pendant lights. Blue paint and hand-carved grooves mimic sunlight shimmering on the ocean floor, further immersing you in the experience.
The bar counter and dining tables, crafted from black and white marble with a unique, leather-like texture, echo the raw beauty of the burnt cedar exterior. Galvanized steel panels add a touch of industrial chic, while the exposed metal pipes above the counter, strategically illuminated, become an integrated design element.
But Aonami Pasta isn't just about aesthetics. The design is an extension of the chef's talent. The semi-open bar counter seamlessly integrates the kitchen, transforming it into a stage where culinary artistry takes center stage. The counter's height creates a sense of anticipation, allowing diners to witness the chef's meticulous preparation without the chaos of the kitchen.
