Actiu is recommending a Home Office with sustainable, functional and healthy solutions. Some of its proposals incorporate a fabric made from recycled plastic: Seven, 2-litre bottles of water allow 1 square metre of post-consumer recycled polyester fabric to be manufactured.

Actiu has launched a Home Office proposal that, in addition to being healthy and facilitating professional activity, is also sustainable. The common denominator is recyclability; furnishing solutions with recycled and recyclable components, including the Felicity fabric, developed by the company Gabriel, made from recycled plastic: seven, 2-litre bottles of water allow 1 square metre of post-consumer recycled polyester fabric to be manufactured.

New life for recycled plastic that protects the planet

After use, the recycled bottles, certified in accordance with the global recycling standard, are collected and cleaned before the plastic is processed into granules and recast into chips. These chips are used to create raw threads, which are then turned into fabric. The fabric is washed, dyed, dried and adjusted to the correct width in a heat press and, after passing exhaustive quality controls, is ready to upholster chairs, armchairs, furniture elements or walls. The result is a recycled polyester that maintains its strength and durability, requiring less energy while reducing CO2 emissions during the production process.

Actiu uses this fabric in its range of professional solutions for workspaces around the world.

A sustainable and Mediterranean Home Office

Actiu has drawn up a guide for designing and furnishing home workspaces, adapting them to the latest interior design styles while boosting connectivity, concentration and health. Among them is the Mediterranean style, with a combination of colours where white is counterbalanced with dashes of vibrant colours such as blue and yellow, capable of evoking the freshness of the sea and the warmth of the sun through tables and cupboards where over 71% of their components are recycled and they are 100% recyclable, in addition to semi-office and office chairs with Felicity upholstery that allows this respect for the environment to be connected with the Mediterranean Sea, while providing maximum ergonomics.

Materials

The Mediterranean style uses materials with pure and fresh finishes such as wood or glass that lighten up a space. These materials are combined with dark terracotta, tile or ceramic floors, traditional in the Mediterranean basin, which create a unique feeling of being right by the sea. The fabrics that predominate are closely tied to nature, either because of their natural origins, such as linen, or because they seek to preserve nature itself, such as the Felicity fabric made from recycled plastic, giving it a new lease of life and preventing it from ending up on the bottom of the sea.

Interior Design

The interior design details must include handcrafted elements made of clay, wicker or glass. Vegetation such as dried herbs and fresh flowers add texture to the spaces, which are completed with textiles and decorative elements in shades of blue, key to achieving that magical combination of the sun's warmth and the freshness of the Mediterranean Sea.

A sustainable circular economy project

Designing efficient products under a sustainable production philosophy, using environmentally-friendly materials while optimising production processes, is at the heart of Actiu's proposal for workspaces all throughout the world, now including the home.
